Yankee Candle Fundraiser
It's that time again! ARPO will hold its 7th annual Yankee Candle Sale from August 24 to September 15. All products will be available for distribution in mid-November, so this is a perfect opportunity to do some early holiday shopping for family, friends, and co-workers!

ARPO will receive 40% of the purchase price of every item sold!

Just like last year, the catalogue of products is available online. Just click here to go to the website or click here to download the catalogue in PDF.

If you would be interested in selling, know someone who would be, or would like to make purchases yourself, please call 317-774-8292 or email us at info@adoptarpo.org. For those of you who would like to sell, catalogues are available now. All you have to do is take one (or more!) to your workplace or school in September, collect the money at the end of the month and then pick up your orders in November and pass them out.

For those of you who would like to purchase items, please call or email the number / address above during the sale dates, and a sale coordinator will contact you to take your order.

The Yankee Candle Sale has been a very successful fundraiser for us over the years. For two years in a row, we have raised over $5,000 for our animals. Please help us continue to help the dogs and cats in our care by participating in this event!

Who Is ARPO?

The Alliance for Responsible Pet Ownership, Inc. was conceived in 1998 by a group of Indianapolis citizens concerned about the continuing high rate of euthanasia in our city. ARPO seeks to unite animal-related businesses and organizations in central Indiana for the purpose of promoting responsible pet ownership and decreasing the number of companion animals surrendered to shelters. ARPO is funded solely by donations and is staffed entirely by volunteers. We do not have a shelter, so all of our adoptable animals are housed in temporary foster homes until loving permanent homes are found. If you would like more information on becoming a foster parent, please contact us.

What could be more fun than adopting a puppy from ARPO?

Going to a birthday party with other ARPO siblings!

Last August, a group of ARPO adopters got together to celebrate the 1st birthday of the "B" puppies. Click here  for pictures.

A Few Quick Facts about ARPO:

  • ARPO adopted out 277 companions in 2006.
  • Adoption fees only cover about 1/2 of the medical costs for each animal. The rest comes from donations, grants and fundraisers.
  • All ARPO adopted pets are spayed/neutered prior to going to their new homes.
  • ARPO qualifies for the highest Petsmart Charities "Rewards Program" as a result of our adoption policies/procedures using extensive application screening, home visits before placing animals, after-adoption follow up program, and ensuring no animals are released unaltered.
  • ARPO available pets are shown at the Petsmart in Castleton on the north side of Indianapolis.

ARPO's Mission

  • To encourage and assist existing and future pet owners in providing a good quality life for their pets.
  • To temporarily shelter stray, abandoned, neglected, abused and surrendered cats and dogs in a clean, comfortable, and safe environment while providing the best quality of life and medical care possible.
  • To facilitate the adoption of these companion animals into stable, loving homes.
  • To promote pet ownership as a lifetime commitment.
  • To cooperate with other animal-related organizations for the purpose of reducing the population of unwanted cats and dogs through adoption, spay/neuter and educational programs.
  • To further educate the public regarding the important benefits of the human/companion animal bond.
  • To promote respect for creatures of all species.
